School has started!
Thankfully, I have NOT been a crazy person (at least in public) so I've already made progress as a person since my last post. =) Things continue to be busy. Mr. Incredible started his new schedule a couple of weeks ago, but last week was the first week I got to really experience the freedom...I mean...the emptiness of him being gone all day. Honestly, I feel like I've been given an extra 5 hours in my day. Can you imagine what you would do if you suddenly had an extra 5 hours in your day?!?
Well, I can tell you what I've been doing with my "extra" time. Last week we also started back to school. *Poof* Time gone. This year is my first year officially homeschooling two kids. On the surface, even I think to myself, "Two kids? What's the big deal! Teachers have 25+ students everyday!" But then I remember that I have to teach 2 math lessons, 2 grammar lessons, 2 writing lessons, 2 sets of literature, plus science, history, and memory work on 2 different levels. That's a potential 14 lessons a day to complete while Average Toddler (formerly known as BestBabyEver) wreaks varying levels of havoc depending on his mood.
As we try to work through school, I'm fighting all the distractions. For instance, that self-sustaining pile of laundry whispers to me. Yes, it talks to me. It says, "You really need to wash me, you know. Miss Firecracker's favorite shirt is right here on top, and Mr. Inc won't have any clean socks soon!" The toys on the floor taunt me. I swear they chant, "Pick us up! Put us away! Pick us up! Put us away!" It's a never ending battle. *sigh* It's all about priorities though. The laundry DOES get washed. The toys DO get picked up (eventually). I've learned to ignore those voices for the most part. If you've ever been to my home, you know that already. ;)
So overall, with Mr. Inc working days, I've been able to get so much more done. Our home has gone up a notch or two on the De-clutter Meter, and I even had time to make my own laundry detergent today. Hopefully, our school year will continue as it started; fun, challenging, and slightly chaotic!
