Finally feeling settled!

We're getting settled into our new home! I have to say that I really LOVE it at our new community! Our last place was very nice, and we were happy there. But I must say that this community really feels like home to me. I can see us staying here for a long time, and that is a big heart change for me. Although we were at our first place for about 8 months, it never felt permanent. Whatever we did, I just couldn't quite get settled. Anyone that visited our home knows that is never looked completely moved in. I still had boxes and clutter everywhere. I didn't even put pictures up on the walls until July! I couldn't find a homeschool group that seemed to fit what I was looking for, we had a hard time choosing and fitting into a church. Okay, we're still trying to fit into our church, but that's a different topic. I just felt a little bit misplaced. I thought it was because we were living in an apartment after having a house for so many years, or being in a new city a...

Moved Again

Here's the newest update on us. Last Thursday I started packing up our things so that we could move on Saturday. Yes, you read that right. I gave myself 2 days to pack up our household. I live life to the extreme, remember?  Friday, I drove the kids up to the grandparents' (about a 2.5 hour drive). Saturday, 4 friends came over and helped finish packing, loaded everything onto the moving truck, and then moved everything into our new apartment. They were amazing, and we couldn't have made it without them! Sunday, I drove back to the grandparents' to bring the kids home. Obviously, little to no unpacking happened on Sunday.     OH, I almost forgot why I got a late start driving up to get the kids!  So, Mr. Incredible, an intelligent, mechanically minded man, put the washing machine drain hose into the wrong hole. I'm not sure why there were two...anyway. You can imagine what happened. Water E.V.E.R.Y.W.H.E.R.E! All over the laundry room, spilling into the hallway...

Apparently no one heard my request for calm and boring.

It's been a few months since I've updated so here it goes. Our summer has been incredibly busy! We went to Florida to visit friends and go to Magic Kingdom, Universal Studios, and Universal's Islands of Adventure. I WENT TO THE WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY POTTER!!! It was okay...if the definition okay is AWESOME! Anyway, in July I ended up making a few trips to Greenville. Actually, I think we made 4 trips if I counted right and had two people stay with us for a couple of weeks. Plus all of the other CARES things we do. Things were busy!      And now we're in August. First, I'll tell you how I thought this month would go.  After planning and preparing for the entire school year in July, I'd start school with Mr. Logical and Miss Firecracker the first week of August. We would joyfully go through our days of learning and reading with the occasional field trip or play date thrown in for fun. The little one would sit and play quietly wh...

My house lost its soul

Today was the first day I officially began the moving process. Over the weekend, I gave myself permission to not think about all the work I need to do to prepare to move.  I figured I had enough going on with the birthday party and a house showing that I didn't need to add the move to my list of things to do.  This morning was different though. I woke up with purpose. Today I would be the first day of tangible results towards moving. I would make up a list of everything to do so that I could have a visual reminder throughout the week of what needs to be done. I went through the bathroom cabinets and the closet in Best Baby Ever's room. As the day wore on, I started getting the strangest feeling. I ignored it, which wasn't too hard because Miss Firecracker kept asking a million questions about everything. Yet, the feeling was gnawing away at my stomach. Finally after the kids went to bed, I let myself think and feel through everything, and I realized that som...

Unrealistic expectations on my laundry detergent and other crazy things!!!!

Almost 6 months ago I stocked up on a lot of laundry detergent. I'm mean really. A lot. As I lovingly looked at all the detergent I'd bought with coupons and on sale, I thought to myself "I'll bet I won't have to buy detergent again before we move!".  Bottle by bottle, my stockpile shrank until a couple of weeks ago when I finally opened my last container of laundry detergent; a box of some brand I'd never used before, but it was crazy cheap with my coupon. I was so sad when I unsealed that last box because some imaginary deadline was being crossed in my mind. Every load of laundry reminded me that we still had no idea how or when the kids and I could move and be with Mr. Incredible full-time again.  Sigh.  As if laundry needed another reason to be avoided, I go and put unreasonable expectations on my detergent!  Then on Thursday we found out we CAN move! And in only a week and a half! So this week when I do laundr...
