Husband bashing

So over the last week and a half, the topic of husband bashing kept popping up in different ways.  It came up again tonight, so I'm writing about it with the hope that I can move on to other things.  Just to be clear, when I use the term "husband bashing," I'm referring to complaining or basically trashing your husband verbally to your friends. Physically beating your husband is not husband bashing. That would be abuse, and it's not cool. Unless he likes that sort of thing...but that's weird and you have bigger issues than I can address. ;)       Anyway, the first time I picked up on this topic was last week at my church (which I now love) in reference to wives encouraging and publicly complimenting their husbands. Obviously, the opposite would be PUBLIC HUSBAND BASHING ***boo, hiss***.   After that, I started  seeing other examples, other situations...you get it. It's just one of those things that kept popping up....

Military life...

Charleston is a military town with a steady stream of Air Force, Navy, and Marines.  Since moving here, I've met quite a few AF and Navy wives and watched them go through their husbands' deployments and missions.  Six month deployments are common. Husbands coming home from a six month deployment just to be sent on a two week or longer mission is also common. Just stop right there. Can you imagine what that's like? Your husband has been gone for 180 days (You know because you count each one). He finally comes home! You get a few weeks together then he's unexpectedly sent out to who knows where for another couple of weeks.  Do you see why military marriages fall apart so often?       Every time I hear about another deployment and watch the wife try not to cry and put on a blank face while telling her friends, I'm the one that starts crying for them. And maybe for myself a little bit, because I always think back to how...
