Guess what we do on Christmas Eve!

This time of year, my children are the ones envied by all other children in America. Why?  Well, they only have the MOST AWESOME parents in the world that let them open all of their presents on Christmas Eve!  When we moved to Charleston, our extended family did not stop their holiday traditions, and we weren't willing to give up the big family Christmas. I also wasn't willing to give up our own little family Christmas day to travel. I wanted our kids to wake up excited to see their gifts and have an entire day to play and be together. Who wants to wake up early on Christmas morning, rush through presents, then get in the car to drive for 3 hours without even enjoying the morning? My solution was to move our Christmas up one day.    Tonight, on Christmas Eve's Eve, the kids opened one gift of pajamas. BBE was especially excited about his footsie pjs!  They know that tomorrow morning, they'll wake up to presents under the tree followed by our now traditional Ch...

The drama of rearranging rooms.

Last week I had a beautiful, most perfect, master plan to completely clean and declutter our apartment in 5 days. I finished day 1. An unexpected two day trip followed by 4 days of the flu demolished my plan. My beautiful, most perfect plan *sigh* was not to be. So now it's the following Thursday.  The bunkbeds that I'd ordered a few weeks ago and that arrived the same day as the flu are now assembled in the boy's bedroom. Today I needed to move Miss Firecracker into her own room. The plan was simple enough. Move her bed where the crib used to be and we're done! After taking apart the crib, I set up the bed. THIS is the point where I realized my brain was still a little fuzzy from being sick for the better part of a week. The bed doesn't fit in the same spot. Part of the headboard is over the window, and that will drive me crazy forever. So now I will give you a bullet point list of the cascade of things to be done to make this room switch.
