The drama of rearranging rooms.

Last week I had a beautiful, most perfect, master plan to completely clean and declutter our apartment in 5 days. I finished day 1. An unexpected two day trip followed by 4 days of the flu demolished my plan. My beautiful, most perfect plan *sigh* was not to be.

So now it's the following Thursday.  The bunkbeds that I'd ordered a few weeks ago and that arrived the same day as the flu are now assembled in the boy's bedroom. Today I needed to move Miss Firecracker into her own room. The plan was simple enough. Move her bed where the crib used to be and we're done! After taking apart the crib, I set up the bed. THIS is the point where I realized my brain was still a little fuzzy from being sick for the better part of a week. The bed doesn't fit in the same spot. Part of the headboard is over the window, and that will drive me crazy forever. So now I will give you a bullet point list of the cascade of things to be done to make this room switch.

  • Move the dresser in front of the window.
  • Move the GIANT solid wood dollhouse bookcase full of toys to the middle of the room.
  • Move the bed frame to where the dresser used to be.
  • Move the GIANT solid wood dollhouse bookcase full of toys to where the bedframe and crib used to be.
  • Realize that all of the toys on the GIANT solid wood dollhouse are BBE's and will have to be moved to the other room. *face palm*
  • Move mattress and box springs to Miss Firecracker's new bed.
  • Walk into the boys' room to see that it's a disaster. Nothing can be done until the room is useable again.
  • BBE realizes he doesn't want to give up his room. Crying and yelling ensue. (This is where I am at the time of this writing. The rest are things to be done.)
  • Move Miss F's books and toys to her room.
  • Move the desk currently in our dining area to the boys' room. Betcha didn't see that one coming, did you?
  • See that BBE needs a space to put his toys and realize that the bookcase currently in the room won't work.
  • Clear the extra bookcase in the dining area and move to the boys' room.
  • Clear the bookcase currently the boys' room and move...somewhere?

And it all really needs to be done before dinner tonight.  I making a new recipe tonight, see? Because we all need to try new recipes on the same day that we rearrange rooms AND while BBE is recovering from his own virus. Forgot to mention that little detail.
In case you're interested, I'm making Cheese potato smoked sausage casserole. No, I'm sure it's not healthy at all, but it looks completely delicious and comforting. I'll also leave out the velveeta, using real cheese instead, so I don't feel too terrible about the whole thing. Happy Thursday!
