2013 goals...a little late.

I chose to start my new year a week later than everyone else. Hopefully that won't set the tone for the rest of the year. Before setting any new goals for the year, here's my list from last January.

NOT moving

Going deeper with the academics in school

Getting to know our church better

Starting a bible study/small group in our home

Going to the beach and pool more

Eating at home (this one is the ever constant albatross around my neck)

Getting the tattoo I've been thinking about for the last 5 months
                                 
and for fun...

Learning how to snowboard!

Oh, and exercise more, lose 10 pounds, blah blah blah... ;-)
 
 
How did this year go? Let's see. 
     1. √  We did NOT move! SCORE! Got my first goal down!
  
     2. X  Fail. We did not get into the deep academics that I'd hoped for. We DID make forward progress though so don't call the authorities on me yet. We simply didn't get into Latin and quantum physics.
  
     3. √   I'd say we've gotten to know our church much better  and made new friends over the last year!
  
     4. X  Fail again. No Bible study for us this year. We have no time.
  
     5. √X  This one gets a half check and half fail. We did go to the pool more often, but the beach was rare.
  
     6. XXXXXX FAIL!!!  We can tell you all about the restaurants in the area!
  
     7. X  No tattoo this year either. =(
  
     8. X  No snowboarding.  This one makes me extra sad because I REALLY wanted to go snowboarding.
  
     9. √X  I give myself another half pass/half fail on exercise and losing 10 pounds. I lost about 5 pounds and was exercising well until the time change. Getting dark so early killed my fitness mojo.


Hmmm.  No glaring success story here. The snowboarding and tattoo are the two that really disappoint me. For this year, I'm dropping the snowboarding because I don't see how we'll possibly be able to make that kind of trip in the winter...or...you know, at all this year.  As for the tattoo, I'm doing it. This year. 
 
So, because I'm sure you want to know, here are my GOALS FOR 2013!!!
 
1. Stop living out of a pile of clean laundry and put everything in drawers like it belongs! Oops, did I just admit to that? Why yes I did. I've slipped into a bad laundry habit, and I kicking it this year.
 
2. Work on developing patience, gentleness, and compassion in my character. Especially towards the people I love. I don't know why I show my worst side to the people closest to me, but if I can patient, gentle and compassionate with strangers and acquaintances, how much more so should I be to my family?
 
3. Lose 5 more pounds and exercise again. If I can do this, I will achieve 2 years worth of goals at the same time which makes it EXTRA special!
 
4. Get that ridiculous tattoo that I've been boring my friends about. Seriously, it's time to do it or drop it.
 
 
And that's it. I figure if I was at least halfway successful on four of my goals for last year, 4 must be my number. Let's see how it goes...
