February updates and a big eye roll at the news
Hello, friends. It's been extra busy the last few weeks so you've missed out on my Dumont updates. I've written a couple of things that I've opted to hold off on posting, but those posts are not ready for reading yet. I'm sure I'll become angsty enough at some point to put it all out there. But anyway, what's going on with us? Well, we're in the final weeks of basketball. This week includes three games, one of which is in Savannah, GA. Then all that's left will be the tournament next weekend in Easley, SC. We've been doing our dentist appointments this week as well which takes up two mornings between the four of us. Matthew got sealants so he might try to tell you how traumatic his life is when you see him next. He has no perspective. So...yeah. Basically if you add 3 basketball games and four dentist appointments to my week, my time is consumed.
What else has been going on? Well, I am in the middle of registration for our homeschool group for next year. I cannot tell you how much I dislike doing registration for my classes that begin in AUGUST when it is still January and February. Sometimes I wish homeschool moms and programs could chill. That is an unrealistic expectation since homeschooling tends to follow more of a CEO business model as kids get older and develop into individuals with their own interests. Therefore, I will be sending out online applications this evening for my 2018/19 CC class.
Finally, I'm a little irritated with the news. In the last few weeks, every time I've tried to turn on the news, I've been bombarded with stories on porn stars, Monica Lewinsky, and domestic abuse by a White House aide. Oh, and the government will go into a shutdown again, but whatevs. I'd really like to be able to catch up on the daily news without having to explain to my kids why a stained blue dress from the 90s is still a big deal, why a porn star is in a picture with the President, why the President has had so many wives, and why there's a picture of a woman with a black eye. Okay, I haven't explained most of these things. Instead, I've changed the channel. But seriously. I just want to know the economic and political news going on in our country, not the sexual habits of the men that can't keep their pants over their appendages and their fists to themselves. Actually, as far as the fists part, it's not the news that bothers me. It's that it happened at all and was ignored for so long. Also, if you're not noticing the huge amounts of security and military spending in the budget and getting a clue about what it means, I cannot help you.
So that's basically it. I mean, there's more, but like I said, the more part is not ready for public disbursement at the moment. Until next time, friends!
