The Dumonts are moving!
By now, you probably know that we're moving in a few weeks. What you don't know is the crazy confluence of events that lead up to our upcoming moves. Yes, I said moves because we will be moving twice in the next 5 months. Every time I start telling people about our plan, we either get laughed at or the "are you crazy" look. So let's just put an end to that question right now. Yes, we are edging ever closer to the top of the crazy scale.
I won't go into all the things that came together to lead to this move, but it involves a three different things coming together from completely different directions at the same time. It was a perfect storm in a way! We never felt as if we'd be in Charleston long term. In fact, I always pictured us leaving after three years, and we just hit the 3 year mark. Funny how things work out that way.
Basically, Mr. Inc will be starting a new job in October. It's a job that he loves! He gets to travel which is favorite thing in the world besides me. Anyone that knows us at all knows that we've been extra busy this summer. That would be because Mr. Inc has been working essentially 4 jobs. He's had his full-time job, the AF Reserves, continuing as a CARES Team in our community, and finally traveling once a month to feel out the possibility of this new job. We knew this summer would be hard, but we think the result will be worth it. If you're wondering why we're moving twice, here's the deal. Mr. Inc's new job will have a certain level of flexibility. For the next 3 1/2 months, we'll be able to live in my family's house in small town South Carolina. This is a whole 'nuther blog post on its way. =) Simply speaking, we're giving ourselves a break. We will be in the country. We will be near lots of family and old friends. We can take a breather for a few months, and enjoy the holidays without traveling all over the place. We can take the time to decide what we want our life in Raleigh to look like. We are so thankful to have the freedom to be able to do this! If we didn't homeschool, have so much flexibility, and have an empty family house to move into, we'd be going straight to Raleigh.
As I write this, I realize I'm just hitting the tip of the iceberg of the WHY behind the crazy looks we get. I'll bullet point it because otherwise you'd be reading a novel, not a blogpost. This is our calendar between August 29 and September 28.
We'll move on a Saturday. Jon leaves on his first trip with his new job on Monday. He'll come home at the end of the week to a moved in house. Or a stack of boxes. Whatever.
So there you go. If I look a little...I don't know...exhausted occasionally, now you know why! It will be great! Truly! We're having the best time this month and loving every minute of the craziness.

- Go on roadtrip to Maine including a BUSY day in New York City (that's also a whole 'nuther post)- DONE!
- Community event- DONE!
- Drive 3 hours to the upstate to teach a 9th grade literature class for a homeschool co-op AND visit my grandfather who is doing very badly- DOING RIGHT NOW!
- Various work things that have to be done next week
- Mumford and Sons concert 3 hours away
- Go to a birthday party
- Another community event! (Yay! These are fun!)
- Drive back to the upstate to teach literature and return the same day because....
- We have our very last community event in the morning! This is actually really sad for me. I'm going to miss our friends and neighbors, and we love getting to serve our community.
- Pack up and clean up the apartment in a week's time.
- Move.
- (I keep remember things to add...meetings, appointments, etc. Trust me, the next three weeks are slammed full of craziness)
